O hexacampeão da NTT INDYCAR SERIES, Dixon, liderou o último treino livre de 30 minutos na manhã de domingo, antes do Children's of Alabama Indy Grand Prix powered by AmFirst, registrando a melhor volta em 1 minuto e 6,6933 segundos com o carro nº 9 da PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda. Dixon tem nove pódios em 15 largadas em Barber, mas nenhuma vitória.

Mas há um porém para Dixon hoje: seus problemas contínuos na classificação. Dixon largará em 13º na corrida de 90 voltas (13h, horário do leste dos EUA, FOX, FOX One, aplicativo FOX Sports, INDYCAR Radio powered by OnlyBulls). Mesmo assim, esta é a melhor posição de largada de Dixon nesta temporada, depois de se classificar em 16º em St. Petersburg, 15º em Phoenix e 20º em Arlington.

Graham Rahal reafirmou a velocidade que demonstrou ao se classificar em terceiro no sábado, terminando em segundo no warm-up com o tempo de 1:06.7568 no carro nº 15 Fifth Third Bank Honda da equipe Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. Felix Rosenqvist, que larga em 18º, foi o terceiro com o tempo de 1:06.9815 no carro nº 60 SiriusXM Honda da equipe Meyer Shank Racing com Curb Agajanian.

If the morning warmup is any indication, could this be the day Scott Dixon finally breaks his Barber Motorsports Park hex?

Six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Dixon led the 30-minute final practice Sunday morning before the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix powered by AmFirst, turning a top lap of 1 minute, 6.6933 seconds in the No. 9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda. Dixon has nine podium finishes in 15 starts at Barber – but no victories.

There is one catch for Dixon today, though – continued qualifying woes. Dixon is starting 13th for the 90-lap race (1 p.m. ET, FOX, FOX One, FOX Sports app, INDYCAR Radio powered by OnlyBulls). Still, this is Dixon’s best starting spot of this young season after qualifying 16th at St. Petersburg, 15th at Phoenix and 20th at Arlington.

NTT P1 Award winner Alex Palou ended up seventh in the warmup at 1:07.2859 in the No. 10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda.
