Christian Lundgaard lidera o segundo treino livre em Mid-Ohio; classificação a seguir.

Pelo menos no que diz respeito aos treinos da NTT INDYCAR SERIES realizados até agora no Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, a Arrow McLaren assumiu a liderança em termos de velocidade, antes dominada pela Andretti Global.

Enquanto os companheiros de equipe Will Power e Kyle Kirkwood registraram as voltas mais rápidas na sessão de sexta-feira, a Arrow McLaren colocou Christian Lundgaard no topo da tabela no treino da manhã de sábado. A próxima chance de desempatar será às 14h30 (horário de Brasília), quando acontecerá a classificação para o Prêmio NTT P1.

Kirkwood e Power ficaram em terceiro e nono lugar, respectivamente, no segundo treino livre do fim de semana. Louis Foster, da Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, ficou em segundo.

Na sessão de qualificação, serão definidos os participantes da Honda Indy 200 Presented by the 2027 CR-V Hybrid, que acontece no domingo. A corrida de 90 voltas será a 11ª etapa (de 18) da temporada.

Embora a Andretti Global e a Arrow McLaren tenham liderado os dois treinos livres, ambas tentarão atrapalhar Alex Palou, da Chip Ganassi Racing, na classificação. O atual campeão da série e líder do campeonato conquistou as últimas cinco poles das corridas desta temporada.

Lundgaard e Palou têm sido os pilotos dominantes em circuitos permanentes nesta temporada. Lundgaard venceu as duas últimas corridas e terminou em segundo lugar, atrás de Palou, na outra.

Lundgaard disse que seu McLaren Chevrolet nº 7 da Arrow precisará apenas de alguns ajustes antes da classificação. Sua volta neste treino foi de 1 minuto e 5,2158 segundos.

“Com certeza, encontramos alguns problemas de equilíbrio que não tínhamos ontem”, disse ele. “Acho que os pneus estavam superaquecendo ontem. Mas sim, estamos em uma boa posição. Estávamos indo em uma direção (com a configuração do chassi) e sinto que o carro tem velocidade. Agora é só otimizar e fazer ajustes finos. E conseguir aqueles pequenos detalhes que os pilotos realmente desejam.”

Christian Lundgaard Tops Second Practice at Mid-Ohio; Qualifying Next

At least as far as NTT INDYCAR SERIES practices have gone so far at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Arrow McLaren has taken the speed baton from Andretti Global.

Whereas teammates Will Power and Kyle Kirkwood had the fastest laps in Friday’s session, Arrow McLaren put Christian Lundgaard on top of the chart in Saturday morning’s practice. The next chance to settle the score comes at 2:30 p.m. ET when qualifying for the NTT P1 Award is staged.

Kirkwood and Power were third and ninth, respectively, in the weekend's second practice. Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing's Louis Foster was second.

In qualifying, the field will be set for Sunday’s The Honda Indy 200 Presented by the 2027 CR-V Hybrid, a 90-lap race that will be the series’ 11th event (of 18) this season.

While Andretti Global and Arrow McLaren have paced the two practices, both will be looking to derail Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou in qualifying. The reigning series champion and current points leader has won the past five poles in races this season.

Lundgaard and Palou have been the dominant drivers on permanent road courses this season. Lundgaard has won the past two and finished second to Palou in the other.

Lundgaard said his No. 7 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet will only need a few tweaks in advance of qualifying. His lap in this practice was 1 minute, 5.2158 seconds.

“I will definitely say we found some issues in balance that we didn’t have yesterday,” he said. “I think the tires were overheating yesterday. But yeah, we’re in a good spot. We were going in one direction (with chassis setup) and I feel the speed’s in the car. It’s really about optimizing from here and fine-tuning. And, getting those little things that drivers really want.”
